This is the English I Honors Page.
WELCOME TO ENGLISH I HONORS!
I can't believe that we are already starting the 2017-18 school year. Welcome freshmen! I am excited to have you in my class and at South Stokes. I have heard nothing but great things about the class of 2020. You will not have an EOC in English I, but you will have an NC Final Exam. Please be here everyday, if possible. Much of what we do will involve collaboration and class discussion, so if you aren't here, you will miss out. We will study and put to use literary terms, vocabulary words, creative writing, informational writing, computer skills, and library literacy. Please be prepared for class each day, and put forth your best effort. Honors requires more reading and projects than standard English. I look forward to a wonderful year with you! GO SAURA ACADEMICS!!!
Textbooks:
Literature ( turquoise)
Writing and Grammar: Communication in Action
Various Novels and nonfiction articles
You are encouraged to read daily on your own. Reading and comprehension is probably the most important skill we learn in school. Students who read independently make me happy beyond words! Reading is a gift, and if you can do it well, you will always do well in life!
If you have questions, please email me at [email protected] or call me here at school (336) 994-2995. My planning is first period all year.
